The Bunker Revisited

This bunker has a history of reappraisals. First as a demo for my learning of Unreal Engine 4, then remade in GZDoom as the opening sequence for my ill-fated total conversion Deluge (which later had its lab section rebuilt from scratch at a much higher fidelity), and then finally reborn for good in the Goldsource engine.

The Goldsource incarnation was built using a current total conversion mod project The Last Goodbye as a base, which itself owes a lot to Deluge in terms of reused assets. So a lot of recycling has gone on as you can probably guess.

The audio was recorded in-game, then taken into Audacity to be treated separately. My aim was to achieve the grainy and blown-out sound quality heard in shortwave radio transmissions and early satellite recordings. This audio track was then laid over the muted footage following the addition of several film grain and VHS distortion effects.
